Today we are going to explore the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. This city holds a special place in my heart. It just so happens that my beautiful wife was born and raised in Monterrey. It also happens to be where my in-laws live, so you can imagine we visit often.

Monterrey is the capital and largest city of the norteastern state of Nuevo Leon. Monterrey also happens to be the second largest city in Mexico in area and in population according to the 2020 census. It is also conveniently located just 2 ½ hours South of the Texas Mexico Border. Monterrey has an estimated population of 5,341,171 according to the 2020 census.

Fun fact: Monterrey is internationally famous for its Cabrito (goat). Monterrey is also famous for it’s Carne Asada grilled beef. Also Monterrey is home to the Technologico de Monterrey which happens to be the number 1 private University in Mexico and considered in the top 5 Universities in Latin America. Monterrey is also home to the best public hospital and best private hospitals in all of Mexico. If you enjoy urban living yet want to escape the country, Monterrey just may be the place for you! Ever wonder where Tequila comes from? It happens to be one of the most famous alcoholic beverages manufactured in Mexico.

Today I’m going to share with you a recent trip we took to Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico aboard the Jose Cuervo Tequila Train. That’s right folks, the town is called Tequila and this town is the center where Mexico’s famous Tequila is produced. I am going to share the rich history of this unique beverage.

Today I’m going to share with you a recent trip we took to Isla Mujeres. Its history dates back over 1500 years. This Island holds a special place in my heart. Isla Mujeres just happens to be the place where my in-laws spent their honeymoon in 1968. Believe it or not Cancun did not exist back then Isla Mujeres was new and the in Mexican tourist destination back in the 1960s. It wasn’t until the 1970’s that Cancun was developed and Isla Mujeres expanded its tourism, along with Cancun.

Traveling to Zipolite Oaxaca, Mexico

I want to share a quick video of a recent trip we took to the Beautiful beach town of Zipolite in Oaxaca Mexico. Zipolite is located on the southern Pacific coast of Oaxaca between Hualtuco and Puerto Escondido. Zipolite is a beach town which retains much of it’s hippie culture that made it famous in the 1970s.

My goal with this channel is to share our experiences here in Mexico. One of the beauties of Mexico is that no two experiences are the same. My hope in sharing our experience, is that you can gain some tips and tricks that we use when we travel on a budget in Mexico.
